Introduction Our goal is to help you support your academic customers who may have purchased a PC without original Microsoft ® Windows operating software ® or discover that they do not have licensed Windows software. The purpose of this presentation is to provide you with information about the Get Genuine Windows Agreement for Academic (GGWA-A) so that you can understand the offer, market it effectively to your customers and participate in the possibility of licensing. As of November 1, 2009, customers who do not have a license will be able to be compatible with the latest Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. Note: Each subsidiary should be updated if necessary with specific regional or national information. 2 Next Steps and Resources Make sure you understand GGWA-A so your university customers can use this volume licensing compliance solution for Windows! • Inform your customers why it is important to use only the original Windows software. • If you find windows licensed incorrectly in your customers` installed PC base, provide a Get Genuine compliance solution. • Additional GGWA-A resources are available at:partner.microsoft.com/40032275 10 10 GGWA-A Highlights • GGWA-A is available worldwide for resellers to offer academic customers with PCs that must be compatible with the original Windows software. • GGWA-A: • Is tailored to the needs of academic institutions that typically purchase and supply Microsoft software through the “Volume License for Academic Purposes” program. • Is from 1st Available for Windows 7 Home Premium (outside the volume license price list) on November 1, 2009. • After acquisition, customers can purchase a new Windows upgrade license through a Microsoft Academic Volume Licensing program or use an existing Windows upgrade license to provide the Windows version that best meets their needs. • Software Assurance is not available, but can be added to a Windows upgrade license. • Customers do not need to sign a contract, but agree that future purchases of PCs that contain Windows software will originate from windows software.

• GGWA-A`s terms and conditions of sale also contain the terms of the Academic Open License agreement. Note: While the customer does not order the Open License or obtain an open authorization for the Open License program, the terms and conditions of sale are included, as many academic customers are familiar with them. • Clients do not receive media or bit execution. The purchase of GGWA-A is intended to allow customers to legally acquire upgrades through the volume license. 6 GGWA-A Offer Overview The following table gives an overview of the GGWA A offer. *Note: While the customer does not order on the Open License or obtain an open authorization for the Open License program, the terms and conditions of sale are included, as many academic customers are familiar with them. 7 8 Order The distributor shall make available to the reseller a copy of the GGWA for Academic Addendum and the Academic Open License Agreement which he may present to the customer.
